Depending on the mission, the Matrice 400 can be equipped with the Zenmuse H30, L2, and P1 series, as well as the S1 Spotlight, V1 Speaker, Manifold 3, or third-party payloads, thereby expanding its capabilities and unlocking the full potential of the DJI ecosystem.
DJI Matrice 400, the flagship drone platform from DJI Enterprise, offers an impressive flight time of 59 minutes[1], a payload capacity of up to 6 kg[2], as well as integrated rotating LiDAR and mmWave radar for power-line level obstacle detection[3]. It also supports the enhanced O4 Enterprise video transmission system and airborne relay video transmission[4], ensuring safer handling and simplified operation. Combining intelligent sensing with visible and thermal imagery, AR projection, ship-based takeoff and landing, and advanced automation, the Matrice 400 excels in emergency response, energy inspections, mapping, and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction).
The flight capabilities of the Matrice 400 are exceptional, featuring up to 59 minutes of forward flight time, even with a payload, and up to 53 minutes in a hover[6]. These performance specs make it a reliable tool for long, continuous operations such as search and rescue, firefighting, and large-scale mapping. It can also avoid large obstacles[3], such as buildings and mountains, even at flight speeds of up to 25 m/s.
The high payload capacity of the Matrice 400 allows it to easily meet the requirements of a wide range of applications. With a maximum payload capacity of 6 kg[2], the Matrice 400 enables a smooth transition from a single downward gimbal[8] to a dual downward gimbal[8]. It also features a third gimbal connector beneath the structure for additional flexibility. The aircraft is equipped with four external E-Port V2 ports[7], allowing for the simultaneous mounting of up to seven payloads.

The Matrice 400 features an IP55 rating[9], allowing it to operate reliably in challenging environments, including dust or heavy rain. It also maintains stable performance in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C, ensuring consistent results in both hot and cold weather.
The Matrice 400’s advanced obstacle detection system integrates a rotating LiDAR, a high-precision mmWave radar, and low-light color fisheye vision sensors[13], pushing sensing capabilities to an unprecedented level. The system can detect even small obstacles, such as high-voltage power lines across mountainous terrain—even in complete darkness[3]. It can penetrate rain and fog to sense its surroundings, providing enhanced safety in challenging weather conditions.
Thanks to the aircraft’s ten-antenna system and the high-gain phased array antenna on the remote controller, the O4 Enterprise enhanced video transmission system enables image transmission up to 40 km[10].
The Matrice 400 also supports the sub-2G frequency band[5] and, when equipped with two DJI Cellular Dongle 2 units[11], it can automatically switch to the best available mobile network. This ensures a more stable signal, even in urban environments with interference or in remote areas.
The Matrice 400 features an integrated relay module for video transmission. With this configuration, a Matrice 400 can serve as a relay drone, flying at high altitudes to provide a relay signal to another Matrice 400 operating at a further distance. This functionality significantly extends the optimal transmission range, making it ideal for search and rescue missions as well as inspections in mountainous areas.
The omnidirectional sensing performance[12] provided by the rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar, and low-light color fisheye sensors grants the Matrice 400 robust positioning capabilities. It can fly stably near glass facades or wind turbine blades and return safely from building edges, mountainsides, or bridge sides even if the Home Point has not been updated.

Thanks to the visible and thermal imagery of the Zenmuse H30 series, the Matrice 400 can detect vehicles, vessels, and people during search and rescue operations or routine flights. It also supports switching to other models, allowing for the expansion of application scenarios. Furthermore, it supports high-resolution grid photos and features powerful tracking.
During missions such as power grid inspections, the obstacle detection system automatically identifies cables located ahead[3] and displays highly visible AR lines on the remote controller screen. This provides better situational awareness and ensures a safer flight.
During day or night operations in urban environments, the remote controller can display building names and landmarks in real time, while highlighting major road axes with highly visible lines.
A real-time route preview is available for the drone during RTH (Return-to-Home), obstacle detection, and FlyTo operations. During landing, the aircraft’s AR shadow can be displayed to help operators confirm the landing zone.
Without the need for modeling, you can mark points on the remote controller screen to locate subjects, draw lines to measure the distance between multiple points, or outline areas to calculate their surface area. Measurement results can be synchronized with DJI FlightHub 2 to improve team efficiency.
The Matrice 400 supports real-time terrain follow flight in all horizontal directions[15]. This feature can be activated during both manual flight and automated flight routes, ensuring a stable relative altitude above the ground.
During large-scale search and rescue operations, the size of subjects on the ground remains constant on the remote controller screen, reducing the need for frequent zoom adjustments and improving efficiency. During mapping missions, a constant Ground Sample Distance (GSD) can be maintained to ensure high-precision mapping data.
To meet the needs of offshore operations such as maritime patrols or wind turbine inspections, the Matrice 400 is capable of taking off and landing on vessels, whether they are stationary or in motion. By detecting landing point patterns on the deck, it can achieve precise and secure landings.

L2 When equipped with the Zenmuse L2 LiDAR system, the Matrice 400 can perform automated transmission and distribution line-following flights. It utilizes the rotating LiDAR to detect obstacles in real time and automatically maneuvers around cross-lines.
The Matrice 400 supports the planning and execution of sloped and geometric routes via DJI Pilot 2 or DJI FlightHub 2. Whether performing detailed aerial surveys of facades, slopes, or other inclined surfaces, or collecting mapping data on individual buildings or structures, the Matrice 400 can quickly plan sloped or geometric routes to efficiently acquire high-precision data.
The DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced remote controller integrates a new high-brightness screen, perfectly visible even in direct sunlight. It features an IP54 protection rating and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 50°C. Equipped with the O4 Enterprise enhanced video transmission system, it incorporates a high-gain antenna array, delivering excellent performance. It also supports the sub-2G module and 4G hybrid transmission solutions, ensuring stable and smooth video feeds in both dense urban environments and mountainous areas.
The DJI Cellular Dongle 2 enables video transmission via a 4G network and can work alongside the O4 Enterprise enhanced video transmission system, ensuring safe flights in complex environments. Additionally, it provides mobile network connectivity for the remote controller.
